Founder, Victor Barbosa, and his business partner were presented with a branding proposal from a bespoke agency. They were assisting them to connect their clothing business to a new coffee concept that they had envisioned.
The word “naked” was repeated in parts of the proposal, which stuck out, as it represented the rawness and beauty of what the co-founders were setting out to achieve. Their vision was to focus on the beauty of coffee and producing the perfect cup. A couple of weeks later they started a barista training course where they discovered that using “naked porter filters” was a method of extraction used by select third-wave coffee shops. That’s when it clicked. They had found the perfect name!
Currently, there are 5 outlets, all of which are franchised. They include the following stores:
- 4 in Gauteng
- 1 in Western Cape
The opportunity
Owning a Naked Coffee franchise means having access to a premium branded restaurant with a strong focus on coffee and high-quality food. Two formats are available:
- Flagship format (Model A) High Street/Mall Location Stores
- 100 m² – 150 m²
- R5 million setup cost (shopfitting only)
- R250 000 initial fee
- Express format (Model B) Mall locations
- 60 m² – 100 m²
- Mall pop-up or small store
- R2,5 million setup cost (shopfitting only)
- R180 000 initial fee
